What Teams Are There
To better serve the growing EDS dance community, we seek improvement to build the community teams every year! For details of each team, please read the following details carefully.
EDS Fam
EDS Family welcomes individuals who are eager to become integral members of the vibrant EDS community. By actively participating in EDS activities, classes, and engagements, members will immerse themselves in the world of dance.
Team Expectations
The primary objective of the EDS Family is to harness the power of dance video projects and captivating stage performances to inspire and drive personal growth. Through dedicated team training, enthusiastic class participation, and diligent routine practices, we are dedicated to assisting each member in unlocking their true potential as a dancer, taking them to new heights in their dance journey.
Audition Detail
Age Requirement: 16+
Dance Style: Each dancer must choose one dance style as their Major and another as their Minor. The evaluation will be based on either the Major or Minor style, helping the instructors better assess the dancer's performance.
Audition Process:
1 minute of live solo performance to showcase yourself. Please prepare the music ahead and upload it to the application form below. (The music will be cut at 1 minute sharp, and there will not be a second chance unless it is a technical/organizing issue).
Solo can be dance cover or your own choreography. The order will be randomly assigned when you check in at the gate. Original choreographies will go in the first batch. This performance should fully showcase the dancer's technique and expressiveness in their chosen Major style. If the routine is an original choreography, the dancer will receive additional points. However, the judging panel will carefully evaluate the execution and overall impact of the original work to ensure fairness in scoring.
Scoring Criteria
The instructors will evaluate dancers based on several criteria, including Power & Control, Body Awareness, Performance, and Musicality. Each dancer's performance will be assessed comprehensively and fairly. Additionally, the existing FAM members will also have their past year performances and participations taken into account as part of the overall evaluation.

EDS Crew
EDS Crew’s the competition team of EDS. Its mission is to stay centered as individuals who consistently push their dance growth and support each other along the way while enjoying dancing to its full capacity.
Team Expectations
EDS Crew represents the highest caliber in dance choreography at Enjoy Dance Studio. We aim to recruit dancers who are dedicated, skilled, passionate, and aligned with our goals and vision.
The team environment asks for dedication and commitment from its members in hopes to fuel and inspire each other. We encourages members to be team players who take ownership and can provide unique contributions to the space.
Throughout the season, you will be expected to build upon your current dance repertoire through training and conditioning, create meaningful connections with others, enhance your own relationship with dance, and perform at a higher level at any dance opportunities with EDS Crew.

Register EDS Crew audition session through my.eds.dance which costs 1.5 studio class points, or Venmo $28 at the door.

After Audition day
If auditionees feel their performance on audition day was not strong enough, they may submit a video re-do of the choreography taught at the audition by 11:59 PM on 9/22. However, judges will primarily use the audition day footage to evaluate dancers, and the submitted videos will only serve as supplementary material if further reference is needed.
You will be notified with the results within a week through email.

2:30 pm - 3:00 pm | Check-in: bring a government issued ID.
3:00 pm - 3:10 pm | EDS Crew Introduction
3:10 pm - 5:30 pm | Choreography Learning: 8 to 10 8-counts choreography, 2 to 4 8-counts of freestyle.
5:30 pm - 6:00 pm | Practice
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm | Audition process w/ filming: not facing mirror, 5 people a group, each group has 2 runs.
7:00 pm | Closing remarks and announcements
Scoring Criteria
Auditionees will be evaluated based on various criteria, including Choreography Detail Pick-up, Movement Quality (Body Awareness, Textures, Musicality, etc), and Performance.
Audition Fee
Studio Class Pass 1.5 points or $28 walk-in
Monthly Fee
EDS Crew members are expected to pay a $50 monthly tuition. The tuition will cover studio rentals for trainings, inviting teachers, director salary, special events, competition registration fee, costumes, etc.
EDS Street Dance
The EDS Street Dance Team is a place for individuals seeking to immerse themselves in the intricacies of specific dance genres. With a focus on internal training and knowledge exchange, this team aims to grow the members ability to freestyle and battle as well as deliver exceptional group dance performances. EDS Street Dance Team welcome those who would like to dive into street dance styles such as hip-hop, popping, locking, waacking, house, krump, breaking, and more.
For the upcoming year, Street Dance Team will continue with following events:
Year-end battle and performance
Chinese song battle and performance
Summer battle
ECHO showcase
Additionally, there will be internal 4 vs 4 battles, dance style video projects, mixed-style showcases, and more.
Audition Detail
Everyone should select their own major dance style.
Part 1: Choose a piece of music (about one minute long) for combo choreography showcase，or do a freestyle to random music from your major dance style.
Part 2（Optional）: Those who chose combo choreography above can opt for freestyle in their major dance style, and those who chose freestyle above can choose to freestyle in another dance style.

EDS Street Dance Team member are expected to pay a $25-30 monthly tuition. Tuition will be adjusted based on the number of participants. The tuition will cover studio rentals for trainings, director/leader salary, special events, etc.

Participation in the EDS FAM and EDS Street Dance Team auditions is free of charge.
For EDS Crew, whether or not you audition, a fee of 1.5 class points or $28 (payable in cash or via Venmo) is required.

Yes, we welcome dancers of all styles and strive to create an inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy, share, and grow. However, please be aware that all EDS Crew members are expected to learn choreography and perform with precision and quality during performances and showcases.
If you wish to join both the EDS Crew and the Street Dance Team, you must sign up for both auditions.

Absolutely. We welcome English speakers and currently have many English speaking members.
While most of our dancers are Chinese speakers, they are comfortable communicating in English.

Yes, all EDS Crew and EDS Street Dance Team members are automatically considered part of the EDS Family.
If you do not pass the EDS Crew or Street Dance audition, you will still need to participate in the EDS Family audition to qualify.

If you are applying for or renewing your EDS Family membership and cannot attend all timeslots, please contact us via WeChat or email. We may consider accepting a video submission.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer the same accommodation for the EDS Crew or EDS Street Dance auditions.

If you believe your EDS Crew audition performance was not satisfactory, you may submit a video of your choreography redo by 11:59 PM on September 22. The submission form will be available from 7 PM on September 21.
However, please note that judges will primarily rely on the audition day footage, and submitted videos will only be used as supplementary material if needed.
